Airspeeder joins United Nations Sport for Climate Action Framework

Airspeeder, the world’s first flying electric car racing series, has announced that it has signed the United Nations Sustainability in Sport Pledge.

In keeping with the ground-breaking series’ philosophy of developing clean air mobility technologies, signing the pledge represents a commitment to progress eco-friendly technology and the key Sports for Climate Action ethos to combat climate change, through commitments and partnerships according to verified standards.

“Airspeeder exists at the confluence of next-generation sport and cutting-edge technology,” commented Matthew Pearson, Founder, Airspeeder and Alauda. “By racing we hasten the arrival of a clean-air mobility revolution that will transform urban passenger transport, global logistics and even remote medical applications. We are a sport conceived amidst the urgent global need to dramatically reduce impact.

“This is perfectly aligned with the intentions of the United Nations sustainability in sport pledge. We are proud to stand with the leading sporting entities on the planet to acknowledge our collective responsibility to play a leadership role in the global fight against climate change.”

In signing the pledge, Acronis #CyberFit partner, Airspeeder, joins other leading names in global sport in committing to a long-term sustainable future, including The New York Yankees, The International Olympic Committee, The FIA, Formula E and Extreme E.

All of these participants in the Sports for Climate Action Framework will commit to five key principles: Undertake systematic efforts to promote responsibility; reduce overall climate impact; educate for climate action; promote sustainable consumption; advocate for climate action through communication.

These principles perfectly align with Airspeeder’s mission to further a clean-air mobility revolution through the creation of a sport built with sustainability as a foundational principle.

Final behind-closed-doors pre-season tests will happen in Australia before the start of an international racing calendar and the initial Mk3 races will provide vital information on vehicle dynamics, performance, safety and powertrain technology that will inform the final development of the manned Mk4 Airspeeder vehicle.
