Nico Müller triumphed in the Berlin ePrix from Nick Cassidy and Oliver Rowland in dominant fashion, winning by almost five seconds.
A first ever victory for the Porsche driver on the manufacturer’s home soil in 69 attempts means that the championship standings changes, with Edoardo Mortara leading from Pascal Wehrlein and Müller himself.
It could all change on Sunday with race 2 of a double header at the Berlin Tempelhof.
Müller’s victory also comes on the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport, making it a special day all round in the German Capital.

“An amazing day,” said Müller on the podium. “Super, super grateful for the opportunity, Porsche giving me that trust.
“It’s an honour to be racing that car in front of the home crowd and then to get your first win, right here in Berlin on the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport couldn’t be much better.
“Having my family here, my sons, my wife, my daughter, I’m actually pretty emotional to be honest. When you wear these colours, when you driver for Porsche, there’s only one goal.
“We want to fight for these three championships until the very finale in London and one of these three is the driver’s championships so we’re going all in on all three.”
When the lights went out it was Mortara who retained his pole advantage from a fast-starting Rowland, Wehrlein third from Nick Cassidy and Maloney, overtaking everyone’s favourite pantomime villain Dan Ticktum.
But in the fast-paced world of Formula E, the first few laps are always frenetic with drivers jostling for position before the race settles into any kind of a rhythm.
Nothing is decided until the final laps. It’s what makes Formula E such an exciting spectacle.
Cassidy won the race from 20th on the grid in 2025, and with Pit Boost and Attack Modes in play, it was anyone’s guess as to what would happen in 2026.
Then, it’s all about battery preservation, when to tactically use Attack Mode and the all-important Pit Boost – a mandatory 30-second, 600kW fast-charging pit stop to add 10% energy to the GEN3 Evo cars.

A front right puncture scuppered Wehrlein’s chances at half distance when fighting in the midfield.
The majority of the field left it last to employ Attack Mode for that important extra 350kW of power split over 8 minutes.
And when the dust settled, it was another exciting finish to the flag, Mueller holding on to the flag as Cassidy held Roeland at bay.

“I had a lot of fun today, that was an awesome Formula E race,” said Cassidy. “My team did a really good job with the comms all the way through.
“I think with these races sometimes you have got to take it that the win is not really on but you still want a good result and I probably managed that a bit better today than I did in Jarama.
“Really happy with how I executed it. Huge congrats to Nico, fantastic job. His pace was second to none and he really deserved the win today so really happy for him.”
Racing resumes on Sunday, May 3 with the second of a double header in Berlin.
