Edoardo Mortara continued his strong start to the 2019/20 ABB Formula E season after a battling drive to fifth in Marrakesh for the Acronis-partnered ROKiT Venturi Racing team.
Having finished seventh and fourth in Ad Diriyah and backing it up with an eighth place finish in Mexico City, Mortara is unquestionably one of the form drivers on the grid and sits a strong seventh in the drivers’ standings, only six points behind fifth-placed Lucas di Grassi.
“I’m proud of our performance today,” said Mortara after the race. “The weekend didn’t start very well for us and we had to adjust a few things from practice. We qualified well and we had good pace during the race. I got into some on-track fights which cost me some energy but to finish P5 is very positive. Despite scoring some good points, we need to remain grounded as we look ahead to the next race of the season where I hope we can maintain our current form.”

Following the Marrakesh results, the Monaco-based Venturi team currently lies eighth in the standings, only five points behind Envision Virgin Racing.
“Today we saw Edo deliver a strong performance,” added Susie Wolff, Team Principal. “There were times during the race that we struggled but Formula E is all about scoring points and to finish P5 after starting there is a good result.
Go on then @Susie_Wolff, what did you think of that P5? 🎉#MadeInMonaco #ABBFormulaE #MarrakeshEPrix pic.twitter.com/6iv1iiH2k5

“Felipe experienced braking issues over the course of the weekend which impacted his performance and there are still some things that we have to analyse. Tomorrow’s in-season rookie test provides this opportunity and hopefully, we can rectify these issues for the next race of the season.”
Isn’t your day off @edomortara? 😜
