Unquestionably the most famous of all racing teams, Scuderia Ferrari has been competing in motorsport and winning races since the Formula One World Championship was established in 1950.
The team boasts all the most important records in the sport, such as most races entered, most race victories, most drivers’ championships and most constructors’ championships.
Names such as Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, John Surtees, Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher have cemented the legend of the ‘Prancing Horse’ into F1 folklore and Sebastian Vettel aims to be the latest in a long line of famous names to win the championship for the Italian marque.
He may not have it all his way this year, however, as French starlet Charles Leclerc has been predicted by many experts to push him all the way. Cheered on by arguably the most passionate of all motorsport fans, the ‘Tifosi’, Ferrari is sure to put on another strong bid to win drivers’ and constructors’ titles for the first time in over a decade.
STRENGTHS: Almost unlimited resources with a huge operating budget and workforce almost unrivalled in Formula One. Arguably the strongest driver pairing on the grid and the most passionate army of fans in the world.
WEAKNESSES: With Mattia Binotto replacing Maurizio Arrivabene as team boss before the start of the season, there may be a sense of panic and instability within the team. The pressure for success at Ferrari is immense and perhaps could be their undoing. Do they want it too much?
