Hendrick Motorsports juggernaut rolls on as Bowman wins in Martinsville

The Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR team, partnered by Acronis, notched up an incredible 16th victory of the season so far as Alex Bowman took a fourth victory of the season at Martinsville Speedway.

So far this season it’s teammate Kyle Larson who has secured the majority of bragging rights with his nine race victories. But today was certainly Bowman’s day as he stayed at the head of the field for the majority of the race before making his move for the lead ten laps from the finish.

“It’s awesome to win here after how rough it was on me to start my Cup career,” Bowman is quoted on the team’s official website. “The first couple of years here with this team was tough when it came to Martinsville, Richmond – places like that. To get a win here is awesome. There is a lot of history here, good and bad, for the team. It is a special place, so I am glad to be able to bring home another grandfather clock.”

It was also the organisation’s 26th victory at that particular venue, extending its record at the Virginia short track. And it looked like it would be an even better day for the team with Chase Elliott also at the front for the majority of the day until he was spun out with 45 laps remaining, finally finishing 16th.

Nevertheless, he still clinched his spot in the final round of the playoffs after winning the first two stages of the race. Larson, who already is in the Championship 4 through his wins at Texas and Kansas, placed 14th.
