Motorsport TechnologyFor the Hendrick Motorsports NASCAR Cup team, partnered by Acronis, it was a case of so near yet so far as the team closed out another successful season at Phoenix Raceway.
Going into the season finale, Chase Elliott was one of four drivers in the hunt for ultimate NASCAR Cup glory but his challenge unravelled in the final stage as his No. 9 entry was hit in the left rear quarter panel, causing significant damage.
It meant that the regular season champion was in no shape to fight for the points that could have given him a second title in three years, and he ended the day in the 28th spot, finishing fourth in the championship standings behind Joey Logano, Ross Chastain and Christopher Bell.

“(I’m) proud of my team for the effort that they put in this weekend,” said Elliott on the official Hendrick website. “I felt like we had gotten our car a lot better throughout the race; for that we should be very proud. It was nice to make the round.

Elsewhere, it was a successful end to the season for William Byron, who led the Hendrick Motorsports quartet with a sixth-place finish with defending champion Kyle Larson following him home in ninth place.
