โI’m really happy for that and I’m really happy for my family,โ commented winner Fernandez. โBut yeah, was not an easy race because we had to manage very well the rear tyre and the fuel.
โI think we made a really good job especially because when I saw that I had four second of gap with the second one I start to manage.
โJorge catch like three, four tenths and in the next lap I get again my, my fourth second of gap.
“And I’m happy for that because I was managing as I won and in a track that normally I don’t get a good result. So now maybe I can say that it’s a good track for me.โ

Although it was fairly plain sailing for Fernandez out front, it was not so easy for those trying in vain to close the gap behind.
With Fernandez beating pole sitter Martin into Turn 1, there was slicing and dicing behind.
Ai Ogura dropped several places after exhausting early battles before disaster struck on lap 9, the Japanese losing it at Turn 16 and ending up in the gravel and retirement.
On the same lap, Martin eventually got the better of Bezzecchi and held position to the flag whilst other big hitters, including Francesco Bagnaia, failed to score points.
A small mistake that made him lose a place in the Championship standings ๐ฝ

It all means that second place for Martin extends his advantage at the top of the standings by 31 points from Aprilia teammate Bezzecchi with Ogura six points behind the Italian.
Nine points for Marc Marquez following his seventh-place finish leaves him only three points behind Ogura.

โI think today I wanted that victory so bad,โ commented Martin afterwards. โI was really focused. But I did a small mistake in the first corner.
โI lost a lot of positions and for sure this compromised completely my strategy. So at that point I just tried to be calm, try to recover slowly, try to be good on the tyres.
โI tried the last 12 laps to push a lot and try to recover, but he (Fernandez) was really clever and he did an amazing job. So congrats to him. But overall I’m really happy about my race.
โA solid weekend that we are back on speed, that this for me is the most important.
“And I hope that we continue with being so competitive this weekend for the rest of the season.โ
