The ROKiT Williams Racing Formula One team has completed its exciting driver line-up for the 2020 season after announcing Dan Ticktum will take the role of Development Driver.
Ticktum, who is a two-time Macau GP winner and runner-up in the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship, joins race drivers George Russell and Nicholas Lafiti as well as W Series champion and fellow Williams Racing Academy driver, Jamie Chadwick.
“It is a privilege to be joining the Williams Racing Driver Academy, especially given Williams’ incredible heritage in our sport,” said Ticktum. “The time in the simulator and experience working with the team will prove invaluable for my development. Being fully integrated into the operations will be a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to assisting wherever I can.”

Ticktum is no stranger to getting behind the wheel of a Formula One car, having made his test debut for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing in Bahrain before also taking part in the post-Spanish Grand Prix test in Barcelona.
His role a Development Driver will involve helping the development of the Williams FW43 with a busy simulator programme as well as attending two Grands Prix with full driver integration across the engineering and marketing teams.
He will combine his role at Williams with racing for DAMS in the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship and will carry the academy logo on his FIA Formula 2 Championship overalls and car.
“I am delighted that Dan, another exciting young British talent, has joined the Williams Racing Driver Academy,” commented Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal. “His ability behind the wheel has been demonstrated with back-to-back successes at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2017 and 2018. Dan’s technical expertise will prove invaluable to the team and we are looking forward to helping him grow and develop in 2020.”
