Ferrari drivers primed for final push in tight constructors’ battle

Following on from Charles Leclerc’s excellent second place finish and Lewis Hamilton’s slightly unfortunate eighth place finish in Mexico, Ferrari leads rivals Mercedes by a single point heading into Brazil.

Despite McLaren wrapping up the constructors’ title in Singapore with several races to spare, the still lucrative battle for second place is a captivating one.

George Rusell has scored the vast majority of the Mercedes points during Kimi Antonelli’s still impressive debut season. It means the Ferrari duo cannot afford to take the pedal off the metal with races running out.

“At Interlagos we will tackle the fifth Sprint weekend of the season, which means another interesting test for the whole team, both physically and mentally,” commented team principal Fred Vasseur. “In this compact format, every detail matters, from the preparation work in Maranello to the real-time support from the remote garage.”

For Hamilton, in his first season for the famous Scuderia Ferrari team, it has been a frustrating season if truth be told.

But for an early Sprint Race victory in Shanghai, he has been largely outpaced by teammate Leclerc and trails the Monegasque by 64 points.

Still, with four races remaining, the seven-times champ is fully focused on ending the season on a high starting on a circuit he absolutely loves.

“We come to Brazil with a positive attitude, off the back of two solid weekends in Austin and Mexico, where we maximised the potential of the car and the goal now is to keep this momentum going, focus on execution, and be ready to react to whatever weather conditions we encounter in São Paulo.”
