Brilliant Bearman going from strength to strength

For Oliver Bearman, the rise to F1 stardom has been nothing short of meteoric.

At just 19 years of age and having only just graduated from the FIA Formula 2 Series to become a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, Bearman was thrust into the limelight to fill in for the poorly Carlos Saniz Jr. at the Saudi Arabia GP.

For many, that baptism of fire may have been too much, but the lad from Chelmsford took it all in his stride qualifying 11th before splitting fellow Englishmen George Russell and Lando Norris for finish 7th on his F1 debut.

Towards the end of the season, Bearman replaced Kevin Magnussen at Haas, again finishing in the points before his full season in 2025.

This year, Bearman began the season with points in China, Japan and Bahrain and is currently on a phenomenal run of form with five points finishes in the last seven races including fourth and sixth at Mexico and Brazil respectively.

It all means that he currently lies 11th in the standings above the most experienced Fernando Alonso and Sainz Jr., the man he first replaced at Ferrari.

“I’m very happy. I think honestly, we executed a perfect race, that was the best possible result we could’ve achieved, although we had some fortune with cars retiring,” commented Bearman after his latest achievement in Brazil.

“We had good pace, a good strategy, and we made some overtakes as well, which actually isn’t fun because it adds a little bit of risk.

“Mexico was a bit of a surprise, but to keep that momentum going with P6 is a great feeling, and now we have a great opportunity heading into the final three races.”

With thoughts already heading to 2026 and the F1 rumour mill in full swing, some are even suggesting a full race seat at Ferrari may be just around the corner. A certain Lewis Hamilton may have a bit to say about that, but there’s no harm in dreaming.

It hasn’t seemed to have done him too badly so far…
