Aston Martin Racing ‘behind schedule’ after Bahrain Test

The Aston Martin Racing F1 team has admitted that it is behind schedule after the opening three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain.

With so much anticipation and expectation surrounding the team and the first purely Adrian Newey designed car, the news may come as a surprise to fans of the team.

But both drivers and team hierarchy have admitted to a variety of teething troubles and curtailed running over the first three days – Lance Stroll even suggesting the car may be several seconds adrift of its rivals.

“It’s clear after the first week of the first pre-season test here in Bahrain that we are behind schedule and not where we want to be,” commented Pedro de la Rosa in his team’s press release.

“We had limited running in Barcelona, and we ran into some issues on day one of the test this week in Bahrain.

“Fernando and Lance have logged some decent mileage over the last few days, but we are catching up and always learning about the new package.

“We have the talent and resources to improve the car, and the team and our partners are all working incredibly hard to make this happen, both at track and back at Silverstone.”

Testing resumes in Bahrain from February 18-20.
