Bruno Senna joins Airspeeder as development pilot and global ambassador

Airspeeder, partnered by Acronis, has announced that the famous Senna name will be returning to the groundbreaking flying car series with Bruno Senna as a development pilot and global ambassador.

Nephew of the great three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton, Bruno himself competed in F1 for HRT, Renault and Williams as well as Formula E, American Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship amongst many other series during his long career.

Now, Senna’s passion for UAV flying will be of vital importance to Airspeeder to aid in the development of the eVTOL Alauda Mk3 machines that recently completed their first remotely piloted drag race. In doing so, Senna will also race against the other newly announced pilots in the forthcoming remotely piloted EXA races as it moves towards piloted grands prix in 223 and beyond.

“At my core I am a racer but I’m also a passionate technologist,” said Senna. “As an Airspeeder pilot, I’m enormously excited to shape the place and space for the industry to rapidly develop the hardware and digital technologies that will deliver on the promise of electric flying cars.”

Senna was an ideal choice for the role as he personally works on modifications for drones as well as boasting an eSports pedigree to go alongside his driving prowess. In his development pilot role, Senna will join a cutting edge field of engineers from the industry’s finest, including talent from Ferrari F1 and McLaren as well as senior project leaders from Airbus, Boeing and Rolls-Royce.

“It’s fascinating when you consider racing with the added vertical dimension,” adds Senna. “As a driver I’m excited to re-define racing lines, overtaking approaches and pit strategy within this dynamic environment.

“This will make for close, compelling and ultimately gripping racing for fans, whether they are coming to motorsport for the first time or are life-long followers of car racing.”
